  CUBO (Cube Optics AG) applies the functionality of a portfolio of optical building blocks to offer our customers uniquely compact, rugged and easily integratable components. The approach allows, among other functions, straightforward customization of thin film wavelength selectivity. Interfacing is simple – either to a wider network with single or multimode fiber coupling or directly relayed via active system elements including sources, detectors or switches. Mechanical connection is simple and optical coupling extremely efficient. Optical performance remains stable while exposed to temperature extremes and mechanical vibration and shock. Intellectual property is protected by eight granted or submitted patents.

Functionality, specification and interfacing options are exceedingly flexible. Resulting packaging solutions are extraordinarily small, convenient to install and cost effective.


CUBO’s Technology:
1) Microinjection Molding – everything related to the design and high production of polymer components rendering superior optical performance over extended temperature ranges. Optical surface RMS roughness of 5 nm and feature accuracy better then

• Optical RMS roughness typically 5 nm
• Feature accuracy not less than 150 nm
• Alignment precision on the order of 500 nm and better
     
 
     
2) Alignment – CUBO has developed repertoire of techniques and methodologies exploiting the simplicity and lower cost of passive alignment. When the situation where passive alignment methods are not practicable, active approaches are utilized:

• Multimode and single mode and specialty fibers
• Passive optical elements (mirrors, filters, lenses, isolators etc)
• Active elements (detectors, sources, LCD cells. etc)
• Movable elements such as actuated mirrors
