Company Profile

  • On 31 October 2014, the HUBER+SUHNER Group, based in Herisau Switzerland acquired Cube Optics AG.

Established in 2000, CUBO's headquarters, production and R&D facilities are located in Mainz, Germany a further production site is located in China.  Apart from the sales office in Mainz, a CUBO sales representative is always close to you, operating out of the regional sales offices. contacts

HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics manufactures and markets miniaturized fiber-optic components, modules and systems for use in data and telecommunications (Metro Core, Access, Enterprise, CATV, 3G-Telephony, Datacomm). products  Furthermore, CUBO's components are applied in wavelength selective sensing applications in the oil & gas market, medical applications, military, security & safety equipment. Our products range from Wavelength Division Multiplexers, to Switches, highly integrated optical devices like a 4 channel ROSA to rack-mountable, carrier-grade systems. Thanks to the broad range of our products and solutions we are supplying OEM manufacturers as well as Network Operators.

CUBO's devices are based on a proprietary packaging process of optical sub-elements on a microscopic scale capabilities: The base of our components is the patented Polymer Optical Bench (POB) which is manufactured by micro injection molding and contains integrated high-precision alignment structures. Due to these alignment structures we make use of a passive, Lego-like assembly of various optical sub-elements to build the device. This not only gives rise to the smallest, Telcordia qualified components and a modular integration of features but also enables lowest-cost prices for our products.

Tens of thousands of our solutions are working since years without any interruption or fault in demanding service provider deployments leading to unprecedented MTBF of more than 20 thousand years (calculation for a 4 channel MUX/DEMUX). This unique solution stability and robustness is achieved through HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics' patented and highly acclaimed production process.

The first Course Wavelength Division Multiplex (CWDM) components were sold as OEM products to telecommunication equipment manufacturers. The next logical step in the development of the company was the integration of the highly performance and robust optical elements into complete passive WDM access network solutions complemented by a portfolio of active transport network elements to provide complete metro and access network solutions. These solutions are deployed to enable new carrier services, e.g. Dark lease and for cost efficient capacity upgrades in the metro core & metro access space.

HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics is your competent partner when it comes to fiber-optical components and carrier-grade transport solutions for your broadband network.
