Optical Sub-Assemblies – World class electro-optical packaging

HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics not only is an expert when it comes to miniaturized optical multiplexer components. Over the years Cube Optics has developed and patented many innovative packaging technologies which make it possible to combine the passive optical multiplexing components with active elements such as lasers, detectors and others.

The result of these capabilities and technologies is the ACTIVE-Cube product category which includes ultra-compact, high speed and multi-lambda ROSA (Receiver Optical Sub-Assembly) and TOSA (Transmitter Optical Sub-Assembly) for high-speed transceiver applications.

The flexible packaging platform not only gives rise to optical engines powering telecom and datacom standardized digital transceivers but enables a wide range of O-E / E-O (Optical-Electrical) conversion variants used in sensing, T&M and industrial applications.

ROSA – Receiver Optical Sub-Assembly

HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics has a wide range of multi-lambda ROSAs (Receiver Optical Sub-Assemblies) designed for high-speed applications. Our ROSAs are available for 100G, 200G, 400G (and beyond) transceivers that are compliant to the IEEE and MSA standards, as well as other industrial applications that require a fiber to electrical conversion.

Our ROSAs receive 4 optical channels (at respectively 25Gbps or more) over the optical input receptacle and demultiplex them according to the CWDM or LAN WDM standard. The four optical beams are focused onto four photo detectors and converted to RF signals. These resulting RF signals are then amplified by integrated TIAs and output to the flex-foil.

TOSA – Transmitter Optical Sub-Assembly

HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics provides multi-lambda TOSAs (Transmitter Optical Sub-Assemblies) designed for high-speed transceivers. The TOSAs are available for 40G (and beyond) transceivers complying to the IEEE and MSA standards.

The TOSAs receive 4 electrical channels (each at 25Gbps or more) over the flex foil input and converts these via integrated laser diodes to 4 optical signals compliant to the CWDM or LAN WDM grid. The 4 optical WDM channels are then multiplexed on to the optical output fiber or receptacle.

Detector Cubes

Cube Optics integrates wavelength management (de-)multiplexing and photo detectors, lasers and other active or passive opto-electronic subcomponents into a simple interface.

The compact devices at highest micro-optical integration density are adaptable and customizable for a wide range of opto-electronic applications in the areas of test and measurement, sensing, defense and others.

They can provide demultiplexing of up to 8 channels, additional tapping and / or attenuation and is customizable over a wide optical spectrum. Please, contact us for further details.
